As the name might suggest, ducted air conditioners work primarily through a series of ducts to keep you cool. Ducted A/C has an internal fan coil unit installed in the roof space of the home. From this central location, a series of ducts run from it and into as many rooms in the house as the owner desires. From these ducts, this allows you to cool or heat each room individually – called zoning. This is done so by the thermostat on the wall, allowing you to select the temperature and other settings. The ease of cooling a whole house is apparent here, and if you’re constructing a new home or doing major renovations, then ducted air conditioning is a viable choice. A package unit is a single unit with its high and low side together in one box. Typically found on commercial roofs. A Ductable split is two units the work together. The high side in installed outside while the low side is installed inside. Typically found in residential. The Ductable Split AC is a ceiling suspended unit that cools the conditioned space via Duct network. The Package AC unit is Floor Mounted unit that is installed in a separate room commonly known as AHU Room. This too cools the space through duct network. Generally, The Compressor of the DSU is housed in the condensing unit (ODU). The compressor of PAC is housed in IDU. DSU need less Floor Area as compared to PAC. DSU are available from 1.5TR onwards. PAC are available 5TR onwards. Maintenance of DSU is a bit difficult and time-consuming than PAC.
